Beating Postnatal Depression

Home

The Angela Harrison Charitable Trust is a registered charity which aims to help women and their families by raising awareness and providing information about postnatal depression/illness.

As a charity we aim to inform health and social work professionals through our biennial PND study day, and to help women through our information leaflet handed out to all mothers in Cornwall after giving birth and through support groups for mothers suffering from postnatal depression.

There have been many fundraising events and challenges and more about these can be found in the News section on the left. You can also read about our recent meeting with new Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, where doctors and those personally affected by postnatal depression were able to voice their concerns about the lack of a dedicated perinatal mental health team and mother and baby unit here in the South West.

This conditon is often referred to as "The Silent Epidemic" with many new mums feeling guilty that they can’t cope with their new baby.

No one needs to Suffer in Silence... help is at hand. Your GP and Health Visitor are very understanding of this treatable and common illness.
